Michigan International Speedway
This aerial panorama of Michigan International Speedway was taken during a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race by James Blakeway. Historic Michigan International Speedway was built in 1967, making it the first 2-mile oval in the United States. Set in the Irish Hills of Michigan and located in the backyard of Detroit, the automotive capital of the world, MIS hosted its inaugural Indycar race on October 13, 1968 and its first NASCAR race on June 15, 1969. Today, MIS has grown into a 1,500-acre facility boasting 137,243 permanent grandstand seats and annually hosting the state's largest single-day sporting events.
It's Michigan's racing paradise, and the most unique stop on the NASCAR circuit! As the cars roar around the giant oval course in the Irish Hills of Southern Michigan, this spectacular poster shows race day at the 2006 3M Performance 400 in all its breathtaking detail. From the vast infield, to the banked turns of the track, to the massive jam-packed grandstands, it's all here, looking great for your wall. Printed in brilliant color and perfect focus on high-quality paper stock, and complete with a sharp white border that includes the official track logo and a brief descriptive paragraph, this is both a beauty for the wall of home or office, and a great collector's item for years to come! A must for any true Nascar fan.
