It begins with a tribute to Major League players serving overseas, and a statement from The Bambino himself, Babe Ruth, inspiring the troops and introducing a little piece of home to the troops, who would be shown the film around the world. After a bouncing-ball sing-along version of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game", the film continues on to all the key plays of the 1943 Series at Yankee Stadium and Sportsman's Park: Joe McCarthy's Yankees scratching out a 4-2 win in the opener; Mort Cooper's pitching gem for the Cardinals in Game 2; the Yankees' breakout 5-run eighth inning to cap a 6-2 comeback win in Game 3; Marius Russo's surprise dominance for the Yankees in Game 4; and Spud Chandler's shutout to finish the series off in Game 5.
Next, the 1944 series film, starting with a dedication to Connie Mack on his 50th anniversary in the game of baseball, and a message from Connie himself to the troops overseas battling for freedom. This 25-minute feature has all the big moments from the one-and-only all-St. Louis series between the Cardinals and Browns, held entirely at old Sportsman's Park: Denny Galehouse's outduelling of Mort Cooper in Game 1 to give the Browns a victory; an 11th-inning victory for the Cardinals in Game 2; Jack Kramer's 7-hitter in Game 3 that proved to be the final World Series victory in the history of the Browns franchise; Stan Musial's homer in Game 4; Mort Cooper's dominance in Game 5; and the 3-1 Cardinals clincher in Game 6.
Finally, it's the 1946 film, starting with highlights of the 1946 All-Star Game at Fenway Park in Boston (the sequence showing Ted Williams tee off on Rip Sewell's blooper pitch is priceless). Then, on to the 1946 World Series between the Cardinals and the Red Sox: Boston overcoming the Ted Williams Shift and beating the Cardinals in extra innings in Game 1; Breechen's shutout in Game 2; Williams breaking up the Shift with a bunt to third base in a 4-0 Sox victory in Game 3; St. Louis striking back with a 12-run offensive explosion in Game 4; the Red Sox moving to within one win of the title with a victory at Fenway in Game 5; another Breechen gem in Game 6; and then, another legendary soul-crushing moment in Red Sox history, when Enos "Country" Slaughter scored the winning run for the Cardinals all the way from first on a simple line-drive base hit to left-center by Harry Walker in the eighth inning of Game 7.
