Football DVD collectors, and Notre Dame fanatics, welcome
to paradise! A&E Home Video has taken classic College Football excitement
to the next level with this amazing, historic 8-Disc set, featuring more
than 20 hours of live game broadcast coverage of Fighting Irish gridiron
classics. The first seven DVDs give you a complete original network broadcast
of a great game in team history, along with highlight films, radio calls,
and more. The eighth discs gives you, as a bonus, the surviving footage
(from second-half kickoff until the end of the game) of the oldest known
color television broadcast of live Notre Dame football still in existence,
the 1966 Michigan State game. Here's what this brilliant box of memories
and history provides:
-
Saturday, October 22, 1977, USC at Notre Dame ("The
Green Jersey Game") - Coach Dan Devine inspires the boys by unveiling
the new green jerseys just before game time, Bob Golic makes another huge
defensive play, and Joe Montana finds Tight End Ken MacAfee for two touchdowns
as the Irish romp to a 49-19 thrashing of the Trojans.
-
1978 Cotton Bowl - Monday, January 2, 1978, Texas vs.
Notre Dame - Montana's underdog Irish take a 24-10 lead into halftime,
and let the defense shut down the powerful Texas Longhorns the rest of
the way, as they shock the nation and move up from #5 entering the game
to National Champions the following morning! Incredible 100-yard running
performances from both Vagas Ferguson and Jerome Havens help Notre Dame
dominate posession and keep the Longhorns on the defensive.
-
1979 Cotton Bowl - Monday, January 1, 1979, Houston
vs. Notre Dame ("The Ice Bowl") - Chicken soup on the sideline
helps Montana and the boys overcome sub-zero conditions, and a 34-12 fourth-quarter
deficit, to defeat the Cougars in an improbable, unforgettable classic.
-
Saturday, October 15, 1988, Miami at Notre Dame -
In perhaps the greatest game ever played at Notre Dame Stadium, the Irish
hold off a late charge to prevail 31-30 over Jimmy Johnson's Miami Hurricanes,
breaking the 'Canes historic 36-game winning streak.
-
1989 Fiesta Bowl - Monday, January 2, 1989, West Virginia
vs. Notre Dame - To cap Lou Holtz' greatest season ever, Tony Rice
and the Irish complete an undefeated record with a triumphant victory over
the West Virginia Mountaineers. All-American defenders Frank Stams, Andy
Heck, and Michael Stonebreaker help stifle Major Harris' much-heralded
offense as Notre Dame takes the Arizona desert by storm!
-
Saturday, November 14, 1992, Penn State at Notre Dame
("The Snow Bowl") - Legendary coaches, superstar players, a breathtaking
finish, and some perfect football weather make this a game an all-time
classic. Rick Mirer, Jerome Bettis, and Reggie Brooks combine to lead the
offense down the stretch for a dramatic victory over Joe Paterno's Nittany
Lions.
-
Saturday, November 13, 1993, Florida State at Notre
Dame - In a rare regular-season game that matched up the nation's
#1 (Seminoles) and #2 (Irish) teams, Lou Holtz's boys complete a dramatic
upset by pounding Bobby Bowden's much-vaunted defense for four touchdowns,
and withstanding a late surge that nearly tied the game
-
Saturday, November 19, 1966, Michigan State at Notre
Dame (Complete second-half broadcast coverage) - In one of the
most controversial finishes in Notre Dame lore, coach Ara Parseghian plays
it safe to preserve unbeaten status, as the Irish of Jim Lynch, Tom Regner,
Kevin Hardy, Alan Page, Terry Hanratty and the rest take a step closer
to an eighth National Championship.
Each game DVD comes packaged with an innovative "SleeveStats"
booklet, a full rundown of stats, facts, figures, and highlights of the
game in question. An incredible value for the price, this is part of a
revolutionary new era in sports DVD production - a historic archive of
complete original game coverage for your home video collection. Officially
licensed by the University of Notre Dame and Collegiate Images, LLC, it
is the most deep, rich, robust Notre Dame collection ever offered. An absolute
