Jackie Robinson STEALING HOME 1952 Poster - Brooklyn Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs - New York Graphic So

Jackie Robinson 1952 Stealing Home - NYGS

Jackie Robinson
Stealing Home · May 18, 1952

It was a sunny, lazy Sunday afternoon at Ebbets Field, as the Brooklyn Dodgers took on the Chicago Cubs in early-season action. With Jackie Robinson having been in the league a few years, Cubs pitcher Willie Ramsdell should have known it was coming. Heck, as a righthanded starter, he could see every move the runner on third made! But, as he began his windup, there went Jackie, headed straight for the plate. With intensity and flair rarely seen today, Jackie gave it everything he had, bolting down the line with reckless abandon. Ramsdell quickly threw the ball home, but even with the ball arriving on time, catcher Johnny Pramesa could not put the tag on Jackie. Brooklyn Pitcher Preacher Roe, standing over the action as the Dodgers batter, could hardly believe his eyes - Jackie just stole him a run!

This incredible poster features one of the classic photographs of baseball's golden age. The action is furious - the umpire's pose, Roe's great angle on the play, Pramesa's helpless lunging tag attempt, and Jackie's dirt-spraying, hat-flying, tag-avoiding slide combine to demonstrate Brooklyn Dodgers baseball at its finest! With a simple white-bordered design, sharp title script, and a huge sepia-toned reproduction of the original 1952 photograph, this poster is a nostalgic beauty for the wall of any old-school fan.
