October 2, 1978 - another moment of Yankee magic, and another dagger in the hearts of the Red Sox faithful. With the Yankees trailing 2-1 in the seventh inning of the sudden-death AL East Playoff game, light-hitting shortstop Bucky Dent stepped up to the plate with two men on and nobody out. Standing only 5' 9", the diminutive defensive specialist was towered over by two imposing objects: 6' 5" Red Sox pitcher Mike Torrez up on the mound, and the 37-foot high Green Monster in left field. Yet, as we all know, this David beat the two Goliaths, launching Torrez' third pitch high over the Monster to give New York the lead, and suck the life out of a shocked Fenway Park.
