Re-live the greatest hockey tournament of a generation - some would say, in history! This amazing DVD set features nearly seven hours of action from Canada Cup 1987, the six-team international tournament that culminated in the legendary Canada vs. Soviet Union 3-game final. With big hits, huge saves, and a speed of play that hasn't been seen since, you will see some of hockey's all-time greatest Hall of Fame legends compete for world supremacy in arenas across North America. After all was said and done, despite three breathtaking 6-5 overtime games, we all know who reigned supreme. "Gretzky...to Lemieux...HE SCORES! Canada wins the Canada Cup!"

Disc One features "Blades of Summer", a 60-minute recap of the entire tournament. With commentary from the late, great Dan Kelly, it starts with all the big goals from the preliminary round, including highlights of games featuring Team USA (Pat Lafontaine, Bobby Carpenter, Phil Housley, Gary Suter, John Vanbiesbrouck) and Team Finland (Raimo Helminen, Jari Kurri, Esa Tikkanen, Kari Takko), who did not make the playoff round. Then, it moves on to the semi-final games, featuring the Soviets defeating Team Sweden (Tommy Albelin, Mats Naslund, Kent Nilsson, Mikael Thelven, Peter Lindmark), and Canada defeating Team Czechoslovakia (Jiri Hrdina, Dusan Pasek, Vladimir Ruzicka, David Volek, and a young Dominik Hasek in goal). Finally, it moves on to highlights of the remarkable 3-game final round, ending with Mario Lemieux's legendary OT winner.

Discs 2, 3 and 4 feature near-complete game broadcasts (minus intros, commercials, intermissions, and a few sequences of unimportant play) of each Championship Round game. These rare historical broadcasts from Canadian television will bring you back to a golden age of up-tempo high-skill hockey, when superstars went head-to-head to see who would rise to the greatest glory in the end. Game 1 (Montreal Forum, September 11, 1987) ended in a 6-5 Soviet overtime win thanks to Alexander Semak's wicked wrister past Grant Fuhr. Game 2 (Copps Coliseum, September 13, 1987) saw plenty of chances for the Soviets to seal the series, only to have it slip away when Lemieux scored on a goalmouth pass from Gretzky in the 2nd OT period for a 6-5 Canada victory. Game 3 (Copps Coliseum, September 15, 1987) was the ultimate in hockey drama - back-and-forth scoring, amazing passion, blazing speed, and, in the end, one of the most famous goals in history - Lemieux taking a back-pass from Gretzky on an end-to-end rush, and burying a slapshot past Sergei Mylnikov to win the tournament for Canada!

With priceless action that also includes Russian legends Vyacheslav Bykov, Viacheslav Fetisov, Yuri Khmylev, Andrei Khomutov, Andrei Lomakin, Sergei Priakhin, Anatoli Semenov, Igor Stelnov, Valeri Kamensky, Vladimir Krutov, Igor Larionov, and Sergei Makarov, and Canadian superstars Glenn Anderson, Ray Bourque, Paul Coffey, Mike Gartner, Doug Gilmour, Michel Goulet, Dale Hawerchuk, Mark Messier, Larry Murphy, Brian Propp, and Rick Tocchet, this is an absolute must for the collection of any true hockey fan!
