Before Broadway Joe came around, there was one true superstar
in the AFL - a slick, smooth Wideout called "Bambi" who spurned the NFL
and never looked back! From the moment he joined the San Diego Chargers
in 1962, Lance Alworth was the best offensive player in the upstart league,
earning all-AFL honors every year from 1963 to1969, and averaging over
100 receiving yards per game for three consecutive seasons (1964 through
1966). He is an Arkansas Razorbacks Hall of Famer, a Pro Football Hall
of Famer, an AFL Champion (1963), a Super Bowl Champion (Super Bowl VI
with the Dallas Cowboys), and is still fondly remembered as one of the
most beloved athletes in San Diego sports history!
