EQUESTRIAN GAMES OF THE XVIth Olympiad 1956 Stockholm 10th-17th June In a little-remembered quirk of Olympic history, the 1956 Summer games actually took place in two separate cities, five months apart! Due to livestock quarantine laws in Australia, the IOC was unable to hold the Equestrian events in Melbourne, the official site of the 1956 Summer Olympiad. So, they decided to hold the horse events in Stockholm, Sweden during the European summer, nearly half a year before the summer "Down Under". Published by the IOC at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, this poster features a reprint of the official poster for those games. Created by Swedish artist John Sjvrd, it is a historic piece of sports art for any Equestrian fan, and any collector of rare Olympics memorabilia. Whether you or a loved one competed in the games, attended as a fan, are a citizen of the host country, or are simply a fan of the Olympic movement, this is a must for the wall of your home or office!
