More than 80 years on, it is still known as one of the most exciting boxing matches in history! On September 14, 1923, over 85,000 fans packed New York's Polo Grounds to watch American champion Jack Dempsey take on Argentinian challenger Luis Firpo. While Dempsey won the fight in the second round, it was this monumental blow that almost made Firpo the winner in the first round. After nine unanswered blows, Dempsey was knocked clear out of the ring and into Press Row! The fans were stunned, as their hero was at the brink - but after he re-entered the ring, the comeback was on.

The fantastic work of legendary artist George Bellows truly captures the excitement of the moment, and the Roaring '20s Art Deco style of the times. Currently held by Chicago's Whitney Museum, the original is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and is one of the most brilliant examples of early American sports art. The perfect piece for the wall of any boxing fan, and any fan of classic American art!
