A terrible injury sustained during the 1990 World Series led to a string of five years of declining performance and D.L. stints - and even a year of retirement! But in 1996, E returned to Cincinnati and the career was back on track. After a superb year-and-a-half, health again plagued Davis, but a valiant return from colon cancer in 1998 once again gave his career new life.
