2014 NHL Winter Classic
This panorama of the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, taken by Christopher Gjevre, featured its first Canadian team, as the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings took to the ice. The annual event, held by the National Hockey League on or around New Year's Day, celebrates the history and tradition of outdoor hockey. This year's event was played at The Big House on the University of Michigan campus and the NHL announced an attendance record of 105,491 during the third period. In the end, the Maple Leafs edged out the Red Wings in a shootout, resulting in a final score of Toronto 3, Detroit 2. The first NHL Winter Classic was held in 2008.
It was a breathtaking sight to see - The Big House in Ann Arbor, Michigan, jam-packed and roaring with excitement, but with no blue-and-gold to be found - instead, it was a sea of red and blue! With the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings taking the ice in the world's biggest hockey arena, on a cold winter's day with snow falling from the sky, it was a winter wonderland of pure NHL perfection. Printed in brilliant color and perfect focus on high-quality print stock, and complete with a sharp white border that includes the official Winter Classic logo, the commemorative title, and the above descriptive paragraph, this gameday panorama is both a beauty for the wall, and a great collector's item for years to come. Perfect for the wall of home, office, locker room or arena!
