West Virginia University - September 29, 2012 - WVU 70 - Baylor 63 This panorama, taken by Christopher Gjevre, captures the West Virginia Mountaineers making their Big 12 debut against the Baylor Bears. Mountaineer fans marked the event with the first-ever "Stripe the Stadium" promotion and wore either gold or blue, based on where they were sitting in the stadium. In addition to the Mountaineers' success on the field, Homecoming festivities added to the jubilation in Morgantown. The first football homecoming celebrations date back to 1921, with the first Homecoming queen crowned in 1939. The West Virginia Mountaineers play football at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium, which opened in 1980 and seats 60,000 fans.
Saturday afternoon on campus, on a beautiful fall day, with touchdowns raining down like water...it doesn't get any better than this! From the action on the field below, to the ecstatic crowd, to the scoreboards, video screens, and unique stadium architecture, it's all here - the entire scene from the historic day in Morgantown, looking absolutely fantastic for your wall. Printed in brilliant color and perfect focus on high-quality paper stock, and complete with a sharp white border that includes the official team logo and a brief descriptive paragraph, this is both a beauty for the wall of home or office, and a great collector's item for years to come. Perfect for the wall of any fan of Mountaineers football and big-time Big 12 action!
