This panorama, taken at the newly remodeled Papa John's Cardinal Stadium by Christopher Gjevre, features the University of Louisville football team playing to a capacity crowd. The $72-million stadium expansion, completed in 2010, increased seating capacity from 42,000 to 55,000 and added 33 suites. The University claims that Papa John's Cardinal Stadium is the only stadium owned and operated by a United States university with all-chairback seating; there are no bleachers in the stadium. Founded in 1798, the University was the first city-owned public university in the United States and currently enrolls over 22,000 students annually.
