Daytona International SpeedwayThis aerial panoramic photograph of Daytona International Speedway was taken by James Blakeway and features a twilight view during a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race. The 480-acre motorsports complex opened in 1959 and hosts 10 major weekends of racing activity featuring everything from NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series to go-karts and superbikes. The most famous event is the annual Daytona 500, the "Great American Race." The 2.5-mile long tri-oval track features 31-degree banked turns and a huge infield area where campers can be seen enjoying the many events. Featured in the infield is Lake Lloyd, where waterskiers can be seen carving up the water under the Florida sun on race days.
