Re-live the greatest years in L.A. Dodgers history - the five seasons of World Championship glory! After moving from Brooklyn to Los Angeles prior to the 1958 season, the Dodgers shook their World Series jinx almost immediately, and won three championships in their first eight years on the West coast. Then, they enjoyed two great victories in the 1980s, including the inspiring and shocking 1988 defeat of the A's. This amazing 2-DVD set features Major League Baseball's official World Series films from each of the five World Series seasons, with rare color footage from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Dodger Stadium, Comiskey Park, Yankee Stadium, Metropolitan Stadium, and Oakland-Alameda Coliseum, and original narration from Vin Scully.

First, the 1959 World Series, when the "Go-Go" Chicago White Sox fell in six to the Dodgers. It begins with classic exterior and interior views of good old Comiskey Park, hosting its first World Series action since the 1919 Black Sox scandal. Then, it's on to all the great moments of the series: Early Wynn's brilliance, and Ted Kluszewski's bulging biceps yanking out two homers, in Chicago's 11-0 Game 1 onslaught; the all-time classic beer shower for White Sox left fielder Al Smith as he watched Charlie Neal's home run sail over his head in Game 2; a Major League record 92,394 fans packed into the Coliseum to watch the Dodgers win the first World Series game played West of the Rockies; even more fans packed into the stadium on a Monday afternoon to see Gil Hodges go deep in a 5-4 Dodgers win; the Sox spoiling Sandy Koufax' first World Series start with a 1-0 victory; and homers from Duke Snider, Wally Moon and Chuck Essegian in the Dodgers' clincher in the final World Series game ever held at Comiskey Park.

Next is the 1963 film, featuring the renewal of the age-old Yankees-Dodgers rivalry. It begins at Yankee Stadium with Koufax' legendary 15-strikeout 5-2 victory, in which he struck out Tony Kubek, Bobby Richardson, Tom Tresh, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in succession to start the game; Johnny Podres continuing the pitching brilliance in Game 2, holding the once-mighty Yankees to seven hits in a 4-1 victory; glorious overhead, exterior, and interior shots of the spectacular, brand-new Dodger Stadium at Chavez Ravine as the series moved from coast-to-coast; Don Drysdale outduelling Jim Bouton in the Dodgers' 1-0 shutout in Game 3; and more Koufax brilliance in Game 4 as the Dodgers swept the Yankees out the door with a 2-1 victory. Not only had the Yankees never before lost four straight World Series games; they had never been able to sweep the Dodgers in any of their previous seven Fall Classic meetings!

Next, it's the 1965 classic, with the old song "It's a Beautiful Day for a Ball Game" playing over the opening credits. It begins with rare aerial shots of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, and great footage of the old multi-purpose Met and its massive football grandstand in left field, and then moves on to the action: Vice-President Hubert H. Humphrey throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, and early homers from Don Mincher and Zoilo Versalles giving the Twins an easy 8-2 victory in Game 1; Bob Allison making a great sliding catch into a puddle of mud in Minnesota's 5-1 Game 2 victory; Claude Osteen's 4-0 victory at spectacular Dodger Stadium in Game 3; Don Drysdale helping the Dodgers even things up in Game 4; some great slow-motion replays of Koufax pitching, and a Maury Wills-Dick Tracewski double play, in the dominating 7-0 Game 5 victory; Mudcat Grant's greatest game ever, a 5-1 victory in which he also slammed a 3-run homer, to send the series to a decisive seventh game; and another piece of the Koufax legend - his 2-0 shutout in Game 7 to finish off the series in front of a disappointed overflow crowd.

Then, we move on to the 1980s. The 1981 Series film, entitled "Autumn Uprising", gives you rare, long-lost footage that you probably haven't seen in 20 years (if ever!). It starts with the final out from L.A.'s improbable comeback from 0-2 down against the Houston Astros in the Division Series (remember, it was the strike year); Rick Monday's 9th-inning home run against the Montreal Expos in Game 5 of the NLCS ("Blue Monday", as Expos fans remember it...); the final out of New York's five-game victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in the American League Division Series, when Dave Winfield grabbed Don Money's potential game-winning drive at the warning track; and the final out of New York's ALCS sweep of the Oakland A's. Then, it moves on to the Fall Classic: Bob "The Bull" Watson's three-run smash, and Graig Nettles game-saving masterpiece at third base, in New York's Game 1 victory; James Cagney throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, and ex-Dodger Tommy John's brilliance, in the Yankees' Game 2 win; Ron Cey's 3-run homer in the first, and Fernando Valenzuela's battle to preserve a 5-4 Dodgers win in Game 3; Reggie Jackson's return from injury, and his losing a key fly ball in the sun to help the Dodgers come back for an 8-6 victory in Game 4; Dave Winfield (Steinbrenner's "Mr. May") snapping an 0-for-17 drought to start the series, and providing some classic World Series humor by asking for the game ball; Pedro Guerrero and Steve Yeager hitting back-to-back shots to help earn L.A. another comeback victory; and Yankees manager Bob Lemon's decision in Game 6 that is still being second-guessed today - pulling Tommy John for a pinch-hitter in the fourth inning of Game 6, only to see the Dodgers pound the Yankees bullpen and cruise to a series-clinching 9-2 win on the Yankees' home turf.

Finally, from the 1988 series, you get all the key moments from the underdog Dodgers' remarkable defeat of the mighty forearm-bashing Oakland A's. This 58-minute feature, narrated by Bob Costas, with replays from NBC Sports' broadcast coverage with Costas, Scully and Joe Garagiola in the booth, gives you all the action: big moments from Oakland's 1988 season, including Jose Canseco's 40/40 moment from September; big moments from L.A.'s 1988 season, including Kirk Gibson scoring the winning run from second base on a wild pitch, Orel Hershiser's record-breaking scoreless innings streak, and the miraculous 7-game defeat of the heavily-favored New York Mets in the NLCS; Hatcher's home run antics, Canseco's monster Grand Slam off the center field camera, and Gibson's dramatic, improbable, IMPOSSIBLE pinch-hit homer off Dennis Eckersley to win Game 1; Hershiser's 3-hit shutout in Game 2; Mark McGwire's walk-off homer in Game 3 to give Oakland it's only series win; The Dodgers' Costas-delcared "weakest lineup in World Series history" bringing home a 4-3 victory in Game 4; and "Bulldog" Hershiser once again pitching a complete game to close out the series. Peppered with exclusive interviews from managers Tommy Lasorda and Tony LaRussa, as well as Hatcher, Gibson, Hershiser, McGwire, Ron Hassey, Gene Nelson, and others, and also featuring victory parade coverage, and a segment on NBC's pioneering baseball director Harry Coyle, this amazing film has it all!

With rare, historic coverage that also features Luis Aparicio, Nellie Fox, Jim Landis, Sherm Lollar, Jim Rivera, Bob Shaw, Dick Donovan, Gerry Staley, Clete Boyer, Elston Howard, Joe Pepitone, Whitey Ford, Al Downing, Ralph Terry, Earl Battey, Harmon Killebrew, Joe Nossek, Tony Oliva, Frank Quilici, Jim Kaat, Jim Perry, Ron Guidry, Willie Randolph, Rick Cerone, Rich Gossage, Dusty Baker, Jerry Reuss, Bob Welch, Bill Russell, Dave Henderson, Carney Lansford, Walt Weiss, Dave Parker, and Dave Stewart, Jim Gilliam, Ron Fairly, Johnny Roseboro, Larry Sherry, Roger Craig, Tommy Davis, Willie Davis, Frank Howard, Bill Skowron, Ron Perranoski, Wes Parker, Mike Davis, Rick Dempsey, Mike Marshall, Alejandro Pena, Jay Howell, Tim Belcher, and many more, this is an amazing find for any baseball lover. Whether you are a fan of the Dodgers, White Sox, Yankees, Twins, or A's, this is a must-have for your collection!
