1998 U.S. Open Championship, The Olympic Club, June 18 to 21, 1998
This aerial panoramic photograph, taken by James Blakeway, depicts The Olympic Club located in San Francisco. The Olympic Club consists of a Spanish-style clubhouse and two wonderful courses - The Lake Course and the Ocean Course. The Olympic Club purchased the Lakeside Golf Club in 1918 and replaced the original 18-hole course with these two courses. The Lake Course was remodeled in 1953 in preparation for the 1955 U.S. Open, won by Jack Fleck. Other U.S. Opens played at the Olympic Club include the 1966 Open won by Billy Casper in a playoff with Arnold Palmer, and the 1987 Open won by Scott Simpson .
A stunning look at the Bay Area's golfing mecca! Nestled between Lake Merced and the Pacific Ocean, Olympic has hosted many great moments in golf history, and its two courses represent some of the finest golfing in Northern California. A spectacular view of a historic course - perfect for the wall of home or office.
